BHAKTAVASALAM EDUCATIONAL TRUST
The BHAKTAVASALAM EDUCATIONAL TRUST was found in the year 1958 to commemorate the 60th birth day of Mr. M.BHAKTAVASALAM former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The Founder President of the Trust was Mr. O.V. Alagasen, former Union Railway and Petroleum Minister
The Trust was Founded to serve the noble cause of education and presently runs the following institutions.
1. Bhaktavasalam Sashthiabda purthi High School, Athur, Chengalpattu.
2. Bhaktavasalam Polytechnic, Kanchipuram.
3. Sarojini Varadappan Girl’s Hr.Sec.School, Poonamallee, Chennai.
4. Brindavan Public School, Coonur, Nilgiris.
5. Brindavan Public School , Athur, Chengalpattu.
6. Brindavan Public School, Chengalpattu.
7. Brindavan Public School, Kodaikanal,
8. Pattammal Alagasen College of Arts & Science, Athur, Chengalpattu.
The Institutions are mostly in Rural areas with a view to make avalilable quality education to the not so fortunate children in these areas. The Trust is a Charitable Trust and has among its founders Trustees, Padmashree. Dr.Sarojini Varadappan. an eminent social worker and Mr. P.T.R. Palanivel Rajan, former Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legistative Assembly.
Dr.Mrs.Jaya Kothai Pillai, former Vice Chanceller of Mother Teresa University and Secretary, all India Women’s Council, is an advisor to the Bhaktavatsalam Education Trust, She also serves in the Governing Council of the Brindavan Public Schools, run by the Trust.
