GENERAL DISCIPLINE

  • Every student is expected to conduct himself at all times, in all times in all places in such a manner so as to bring credit to the Institution.

  • Strict discipline should be maintained in the Institution Campus.

  • Every student should set an example to other fellow students by his decent behavior and regular study.

  • Students are advised to make a liberal use of the Library in their leisure time and they are prohibited from loitering any where in the campus to avoid causing disturbance to other Classes.

  • Students should inculcate the habit of keeping the surroundings clean and tidy.
  • Better environment promotes better learning.

  • Every student should handle the Polytechnic property very carefully and of any damage is done it should be brought to the notice of the authority concerned immediately.

  • With the permission of the principal only student can take part in holding discussions or address meeting or invite an outsider to preside over a function within the Campus.

  • Without specific permission of the Principal notices of any sort shall not be displayed on the notice board or anywhere inside the campus.

  • They should not directly or indirectly involve in any political movement.

  • The Principal may form time to time issue orders relating to the conduct of the student in Polytechnic and hostel for the welfare of the Institution.

  • On any one who infringes any of the rules mentioned above either by word or deed the principal shall have the full powers to insist suitable punishment by way of fine or loss of attendance or refusal of hall ticket and conduct certificate or expulsion.


  • ATTENDANCE

  • Students should always be punctual and Regular in attending the polytechnic
  • Attendance will be taken at the commencement of every hour or practical class.

  • Students should Compulsorily put in a minimum of 80% attendance during the course of study in all the subjects including theory, practical and drawing in order to become eligible to write the Board examination.

  • The certificate of attendance required by the Director of Technical Education will be granted only if he put in required attendance.

  • Attendance at all seminars and functions is compulsory.

  • No student can absent himself from the Polytechnic without the previous sanction of leave from the principal. Leave letters should be submitted to the principal with the recommendation of the tutor concerned well in advance. If the leave required is more than 3 days at a time it should be recommended by the concerned Head of the Department.

  • Leave on medical grounds may granted only on producing the medical certificate from doctor in the panel of doctors in the panel of doctors approved by the Principal for this purpose.


  • MONTHLY TEST AND EXAMINATIONS

    Monthly test and mid-semester examinations will be conducted in each subjects Progress reports indicating the marks secured in tests and examinations are regularly sent to the parents.
    Leave or absence for the above tests will not be allowed. A habitual absent is liable to be expelled from the polytechnic.
    Committing malpractice in any examination will be seriously dealt with the punishments such as suspension or expulsion.

    TUTORIAL SYSTEM

    All the students will be divided into small groups and each group will be taken care of by a staff member who will be their friend, philosopher and guide. These tutors will have close contact with them guiding them in their study, personality etc.

    LABORATORY AND WORKSHOP

    The regulation regarding the dress to be worn in the laboratory and workshop should be meticulously complied with.
    Students should exercise due care in handling the instruments and equipments to ensure that no damage is caused to the polytechnicproperty and no injury done to themselves.
    The instruction given by the staff should be strictly adhered to.
    Records of practical work must be correctly entered and carefully maintained. The record note book must be submitted regularly.

    PROCEDURE FOR COMPLETING THE DIPLOMA COURSE FOR THE STUDENTS ADMITTED

    The following is the maximum time limit permitted for the completion of the diploma course.

    Regular students admitted in I Year:6 Years HSC vocational/Academic students, admitted in III Semester: 5Years

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION I YEAR

    Pass in SSLC with eligibility for admission to 1' year Higher Secondary school in Tamil Nadu. (Or)
    Any other qualification recognized as equivalent to SSLC or X Standard of Tamil Nadu High School by the Director of School Education, Secondary Education Board of Tamil Nadu.
    Candidates who are qualified as on 1-7-2000 (i.e. who have passed the qualifying examination during April 2000 or earlier examination only will become eligible for admission.
    candidates should have obtained the following minimum % marks.

    Entrance test for 100 marks, 50n for Maths and 50 for science will be conducted. Ranking for 600, marks academic 500 marks and entrance 100 marks.
    Admission will be done by single window system window system by DOTE except Management quota.

    ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION II YEAR

    A pass in any one of the HSC Vocational academic course in the Higher Secondary School in Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Board with eligibility for all university course of study.
    Should have studied the related subjects as indicted in the annexure for various courses.

    MARK RULE VOCATIONAL

    For qualifying for admission the candidates belong to communities other than SC and ST should scored the minimum marks in the subject given below:
    F.C.

    A minimum of 40% in the prescribed related subject i.e. Maths/physics/Chemistry.
    A minimum of 40% in each for the Vocational subject studied under part III the total of the above two subjects (i) and (ii) should not be less than 100 out of 200.
    B.C.

    A minimum of 40% in the prescribed related subject i.e. Maths/Physics/Chemistry.
    A minimum of 40% in each of the Vocational subject studied under part III the total of the above two subjects (i) and (ii) should not be less than 95 out of 200.
    MBC & DC

    A minimum of 35% in the prescribed related subject i.e. Maths/physics/Chemistry.
    A minimum of 35% in each of the Vocational subjects studied under part III the total of the above two subjects (i) &(ii) should not be less than 90 out of 200. In respect of SC/SC a mere pass in HSC (v) is sufficient.

    ELIGIBILITY TO WRITE THE BOARD EXAMINATION

    Examination shall be conducted in both theory and practical. A candidate will be permitted to appear for the Board Examination on in each semester only He secures not less than 80/- of attendance in theory, drawing and laboratory subjects. He earns a progress certificate from the Head of the Institution of having satisfactorily completed the course of study prescribed as required by these regulations and his conduct has been satisfactory. Students who have shortage of attendance will not be permitted to write the Board Examinations under any circumstances.

    CRITERIA FOR A PASS THEORY AND PRACTICAL SUBJECTS

    For a pass in board examinations a candidate has to secure a minimum of 40% in the theory subjects and 50% in practical subjects. For practical subjects 25 marks are allotted for record notebook.

    FIRST CLASS

    All successful candidate securing not less than 60% of the aggregate marks in the board examinations including theory and practical put together in all the subjects of V and VI semesters shall be declared to have passed examination in FIRST CLASS provided they have passed the V and VI semesters in first appearance.

    DISTINCTION

    All candidates of getting 75% and above are awarded special Distinction with first class.

    SECOND CLASS

    Other successful candidates shall be declared to have passed in SECOND CLASS.

    FEES FOR BOARD EXAMINATIONS

    Fees for the first year diploma course will be Rs.305/- Fees for Board Examination for each other semester willbeRs.170/- After last date a fine of Rs.30/- will be levied if the fees with fine are not paid within 10 working days The name of the defaulter will be struck off the roll. If readmitted ,the defaulters should pay the fees with along with a re admission fees of Rs.25/- A Fee of Rs.25/- per paper will be collected from supplementary candidates appearing for the board examinations. Full fee of Rs.80/- will be collected from the supplementary candidates appearing for more than 3 papers
